There’s something extra special about getting to photograph someone you once shared a college campus with as they step into such a beautiful new chapter.
Diana and I went to St. Edward’s University together, so getting to be there to document her wedding day was such a full-circle moment for me. Years after sharing the Hilltop, I found myself behind my camera celebrating her as she married Omar and began this next chapter of her life.
Their wedding day was intimate, intentional, and completely centered around the people who mean the most to them. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Diana and Omar created a celebration that felt less like a traditional large wedding and more like an incredibly meaningful gathering of the people who have shaped their lives.
And then there’s their love story. Diana and Omar met online, but you would never know it from watching them together. There was such an ease between them — the kind of connection that makes it feel like they’ve known each other forever.
The day began with a Catholic Mass, giving Diana and Omar the opportunity to begin their marriage surrounded by their faith and the people they love most.
There was something especially beautiful about the pace of the day. Rather than rushing from one part of the celebration to the next, there was time to be present — to take in the significance of the ceremony, spend time with loved ones, and really experience the day.
As an Austin Catholic wedding photographer, I love being able to document these meaningful moments of faith alongside all of the joy and celebration that comes with a wedding day. From the quiet moments during Mass to the excitement that followed, every part of their day told a piece of their story.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Texas Old Town, where Diana and Omar exchanged personal vows at their reception space.
Hearing a couple speak directly to each other about the life they’re building together is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. Their vows added such a personal layer to an already meaningful celebration and gave everyone gathered another glimpse into the relationship they share.
Once the formalities were over, it was time to celebrate — and this group definitely knew how to party!
Of course, we had to make time for wedding portraits at Texas Old Town. The property gave us so many beautiful backdrops for their newlywed portraits, and photographing Diana and Omar together was an absolute joy.
But what made their portraits so special wasn’t just the setting. It was them.
You could feel how genuinely happy they were to be married. They laughed together, soaked in the moment, and seemed completely comfortable just being around each other. Their connection made photographing their couples portraits feel effortless.
As an Austin wedding photographer, these are the moments I love most. Beautiful portraits are wonderful, but the images that mean the most are often the ones where you can see exactly how a couple felt in that moment.
After the vows and portraits, Diana and Omar's intimate wedding turned into one seriously fun celebration.
The reception was filled with their closest loved ones, plenty of laughter, and a whole lot of dancing. It was the kind of party where everyone was genuinely excited to celebrate the newlyweds — and you could feel that energy on the dance floor.
From emotional moments with family to packed dance floors and candid moments between friends, the reception was a perfect reflection of Diana and Omar: joyful, warm, and surrounded by people who love them.
Those candid reception moments are some of my favorite images to capture as a wedding photographer. They're the photos you don't necessarily plan for — the laughs between dances, the hugs, the spontaneous moves on the dance floor — but they're often the images that bring you right back to how the day actually felt.
Getting to photograph Diana and Omar's wedding was meaningful for so many reasons. I got to return to the world of someone I knew from my own college years, but this time, I was there to document one of the biggest milestones of her life.
From a beautiful Catholic Mass in Austin to personal vows at Texas Old Town, intimate portraits, and a dance-filled reception, their wedding day was a celebration of love, faith, friendship, and family.
